From the Marines to the ER
Eighteen years of medicine before the law
His professional life began with six years of service as a Navy Corpsman (medic) assigned to a Marine Corps infantry battalion. Those years taught him the importance of responsibility, integrity, attention to detail, and showing up for people when circumstances are difficult and the stakes are high.
After leaving the military, Jason went to nursing school and spent the next 12 years as a Registered Nurse. He worked in emergency rooms, intensive care, and post-operative care before becoming the charge nurse of a spinal cord injury unit. Nursing gave Jason a firsthand understanding of what patients and families experience when they are at their most vulnerable. He saw the fear and uncertainty that can come with serious illness or injury, and he saw families place tremendous trust in the people responsible for caring for their loved ones.
He also saw what happened when that trust was broken.
Jason witnessed mistakes and negligence that had devastating consequences for patients and their families. Those experiences stayed with him and ultimately changed the direction of his career. He realized that while he could advocate for patients at the bedside, he could also use his experience to advocate for them in the courtroom.
That realization led him to become an attorney.
Jason began his legal career representing people injured by defective medical devices, gaining extensive trial experience in both state and federal courts. Over the years, he has helped hundreds of people and their families recover more than $85 million.
